Mamma and the crew can’t wait to get outside and enjoy some of the cooler autumn days. Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria - both at Cranbourne and Melbourne - is an ideal location for these adventures. Not only are there the beautiful gardens, the playgrounds and dozens of trails to explore, but there will also be a buzz of activity with school holiday activities happening at both of these stunning family friendly destinations.


Botanica: A Village in the Australian Garden (FREE event) Wednesday April 10 - Saturday April 13, 11am - 3pm
Cubby building and creature making using natural materials. Kids of all ages are welcome to design their own structures and create a community with experienced learning facilitators on hand to help guide the play. 

Birds in the Australian Garden (FREE event), Monday 8 April & Saturday 11 May at 10 am
Guided walk to meet some of our regular feathered friends while you explore the Garden. I wonder how many you can spy?

Welcome to Wareeny Gardens ($10 per child, adult free), Tuesday 16 April & Wednesday 17 April, 11am (2 hrs)
Join a First Nations guide to gain a deeper understanding of wareeny season (wombat season) and its importance to the Boonwurrung people and native animals. There will be storytelling, track making and investigating natural materials, all while keeping an eye out for those shy friends of the Cranbourne Gardens.

Kids Explorer ($10 Adult, $8 Child, $25 Family) Saturday 6 April – Sunday 22 April, 10am – 4pm (25 mins)
Journey around the Australian Garden on an open-air bus with a special tour designed for a child’s view. Take in all the sights, colours, sounds and smells of the Gardens while learning about the importance of plants in our world.


Nature Play in the Gardens (FREE event) Wednesday 17 April, 10am – 1pm, drop in anytime.
Set in the Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden, this nature-based sensory experience is designed for children of all ages. Playing amongst the autumn leaves, build a shelter or float a boat down the stream.

ClimateWatch Walk (donations accepted) Family-friendly tour (ages 5+), Thursday 11 April, 10.30am (1 hr)
Become a citizen scientist and help to monitor biodiversity in the Gardens by collecting valuable information about animals and plants for Earthwatch.
