the briars wildlife sanctuary and wetlands, mount martha

Wow! What a beautiful spot! Mamma just LOVES the peaceful tranquillity of this stunning place.

As soon as you enter the wildlife sanctuary you will hear the songs of dozens of different birds. The croak of frogs, and if you’re lucky, the laugh of a kookaburra!
Keep your eyes peeled as you meander along the boardwalk, you’re likely to spot a kangaroo. You may be super blessed to view a koala, emu or echidna! How Aussie is that!

There are a few different walks you can take, each with different lengths. They’re not too steep, so little feet can manage them. They’re not wheelchair accessible (although you can travel across the boardwalk in a wheelchair) and prams are not advised. (Mamma came across a couple who attempted to take the pram - and HIGHLY advised that it was the wrong decision).

After your walk, have a picnic in the sprawling green fields. There are numerous picnic tables and some BBQ facilities.

This is the perfect way to spend a family family day out!

Mamma's special mention:
Whilst there is a cafe on site - it is often closed for private functions. There’s a wonderful cafe right around the corner that sells delicious coffee, muffins and you can also pick up a plant - Mornington Hydroponic Cafe.
