fern gully @ royal botanic gardens victoria, melbourne

We love a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. Such a tranquil slice of paradise, right on the doorstep of the city we all love. There is always plenty to discover when visiting the Gardens, you really can’t tackle it ALL in one go. BUT Mamma wants you to find Fern Gully.
This beautiful section of gardens if filled with - you guessed - FERNS. This used to be where the bats would hang about, but now it is for us! It is a peaceful and cool space AND it has had a recent upgrade with a boardwalk installed so you are right in amongst the foliage! There are lots of nooks and crannies to explore all along the pathways (we almost interrupted a marriage proposal) but Mamma’s favourite is the Birds Nest.
This hanging chair is a lovely spot just to sit and take in your surroundings.

Mamma's special mention: If you are planning a trip to the Gardens you MUST visit the Ian Potter Children’s Gardens up in the direction of The Shrine. It’s a brilliant and safe place for the kids to explore a little bit of nature in the City. Do double check the opening hours though!
